“People with disabilities want to bring a transformation of their lives” (National People with Disabilities and Carer Council 2009pg. 6). Just like any other human being these people want their voices heard and their rights to be recognized. They need to have the opportunity to participate in community activities, and we need to be encouraging and supportive of them. By learning and working together, we are able to understand their conditions and share their visions. They want the chance to enjoy life and use the facilities that we often take for granted. We shouldn’t judge them and be accepting of who they are, as everyone is different and unique in their own way.
In response to this article National People with Disabilities and Carer Council 2009, Australian Governments are continuing to work throughout 2009-10 on the strategy with the advice of the National People with Disabilities and Carer Council and other stakeholders.
