Personal Narrative: My First Year In High School

Improved Essays
It was the beginning of 9th grade and the beginning of my first year in high school. It started out good but then I started skipping. It wasn’t long before skipping just a class turned into skipping all day long. I was doing things I wasn’t supposed to be doing and I had the I don’t care mentality and I didn’t care about my grades. I was more worried about having fun and being bad then being a good student and going to class. But then the next year when I was supposed to be a 10th grader I was a 9 and a half and that’s when I really knew that I made a huge mistake and needed to get my life together because you see when your skipping and doing whatever it is you want to do then you get stuck in this way of doing what you want instead of doing what …show more content…
It was all about the spur of the moment at what I was getting out of all this. What I mean all the bad things I was doing was I was smoking weed and cigs and I had been struggling with self-harm for several years now. I had got suspended that year because my mom found out what exactly was going on and she took me up to the school and I got suspended for a whole week. But that was only the beginning I went through several problems by going behind my mom’s back and smoking when they weren’t home and just doing things I shouldn’t be doing. But through the summer I started to realize that all the mistakes I made that year in school and outside of school had caused no one but myself damage I had restrictions and I wasn’t allowed to go hang out with people but what I did really understand was once I quit doing all those bad things I was opened to a brand new perspective and was able to focus more on the things I needed than on just the things wanted. I learned so much from the mistakes that I made that I was able to become a better person Instead of reaching for a cig when I get stressed I sit down and I paint paintings and I

"Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence" I have had many ups and downs over the course of my life thus far. One specific example of this took place during my freshman year of high school. When I started high school it was very challenging for me, partially due to the fact that; during this time, I was lazy, unmotivated and did not really take school seriously. This by far is one of my biggest regrets to this day. Who would ever think that not trying during my freshman year would continue to follow me throughout the course of my academic career.…

My years in high school were quite thrilling and adventurous. Starting as a freshman, I had no idea where I was going and what was going to be expected of me. Over the years I became involved with extracurricular activities which led to my primary interest I had developed in technology and the sciences. As a freshman I joined the Students with Future Interests in Technology Club, Spanish Club, and Robotics Club. These clubs stayed with me till I graduated high school and I have loved them ever since I got involved in them.…

In high school my most outstanding example of a time when I set an example as a student leader was my sophomore year in high school. My sophomore year of high school I was brought up to the varsity soccer team, the team that I was on was not extremely hard working and or dedicated. As a sophomore I was afraid to stand up and verbally tell the entire team that we need to step it up, or we are going to have a horrible season, so I decided to make my statement apparent by my actions. First, I started by always being the first one to every practice, putting pressure on my other teammates to do the same, in result everyone started to arrive to practice earlier. The second step I took was difficult since I was one of the youngest players and the…

One minute I was happy and the next minute I was sad and just didn't want to do nothing anymore. Out of everything the main thing I remember is getting suspended for fighting. I'm not a fighter at all so me getting into a fight was a surprise. Yeah I could of told an adult about what was going, but I did not think it was going to get to the point to where I actually would of fought the girl. With me working and trying to keep my grades up I was very stressed.…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

I see this time as like my downfall and the reason behind why I was doing this was because of the friends that I had back then. The friends I had weren’t the smartest around or the nicest ones at all so that influenced me throughout middle school. These friends were really rude and dumb, but I stuck with them because I didn’t have anyone else to hang around or be with since I was so shy. At times, they would lie, cheat, and criticize others to get what they wanted which is something that I let influenced me. I soon recognized what they were doing and ended up not being there friends by the end of eighth grade.…

The end of the day comes whether you have gotten up to do something productive or if you have simply remained inanimate while time moves around you. I have found that the present slips away while you are worrying about the future. We are constantly telling ourselves that if we just get through this, then everything after will be better. We forget to appreciate the moment while constantly reaching for a hypothetically more fulfilling life. Once we graduate high school, or get through a challenging class, or finish a workout, everything after will get easier.…

I didn’t not know what I was expecting. On the first day of high school, I stepped into a crowd of students, waiting to enter the building that would become my second home for the next four years. I didn’ not know where I would stand among these highly accomplished individuals, or if I would even amount to the standards set before me. Self-doubt began to fester inside of me as soon as I stepped through the front doors. I expected less and less of myself as time went on.…

It was the first and only time I had ever did anything like that. I liked to think I was a good kid, I still believe I am, but I never imagined I would do this. I also never thought I would get beaten to the point of near unconsciousness a few weeks prior or miss a week straight of school because of severe head trauma. I was behind, desperate, I needed someway to boost my good grade, I had a C and I did not want to have it end up on my transcript. I sat down my…
