The point guard will need have good coordination and should be the most confident player when passing as they will be communicating with the ball to other team mates as well as defending the ball and traveling towards the opposite team’s basket. The point guard should also be aware of the team’s tactics to ensure they play well and how to maintain the correct tempo on the court, they should also be fast and able to identify a good opportunity to shoot and position their teammates accordingly.
2- Shooting guard:
The shooting guard needs to have good coordination skills and control over the ball as well as balance as they are required to throw the ball to their teammates, steal the ball from their opponents and shoot on behalf of the team. The majority of the points scored in a match is gained by the shooting guard.
3- Small forward:
Small forward are not assigned to one particular role, they are very flexible on the court. They should be robust as they are repeatedly in defence and tall as well as having good hand coordination when aiming for the hoop as they may be shooting from a distance or may be surrounding the hoop. Small forward and shooting guards are recognised as wings on the court, as they have identical roles
