Importance Of Self-Operation In A Nursing Home

If I were an administrator of any health care facility I would choose to be one in a nursing home. Nursing homes are places where individuals go when they aren’t able to take care of themselves. The way these individuals are being fed plays a major role. There is currently two different food operations in this facility; self-operation and to be outsourced. It is evident that operating under being self-operation is beneficial. The advantages of running a nursing home under this food operation system is convenience, cost efficient, time efficient, and less responsibilities. The caregivers in this nursing home know their patients inside and out since they see them everyday. The staff and caregivers can communicate on what kinds of food to make to give its patients. An example of the convenience of having self-operation food system is patients whom have dysphagia can only intake foods that are thickened. This caregivers can automatically tell the staff in the kitchen there patients needs to have there food thickened and even packaged a certain way so there patients are able to eat from the containers. Convenience plays a major role in leading this nursing home to be cost efficient. Cost efficient is the way this nursing home can save money by doing what is best. Self- operation is not involved in any outside sources. It operates in its own facility and involved with its own staff. There are no external costs to worry about. The only costs that this facility would be worried about are the food ingredients, utensils, and the way the staff are getting paid. The money that patients are putting into staying at this facility plays a major role on their meal prep. Patients should get the right attention with the foods they are taking since they are paying money for the treatment they are
