A recommended piece of “Self-Evaluation” is Performance Planning. Simply put, Performance Planning is when the manager and employee discuss what will be expected of the employee. Self-evaluation can be undertaken for a variety of reasons. Self- Evaluation can be done to determine the effectiveness of certain job practices. Sometimes, the results can be used to provide the managers or owners evidence of how good they are working and what needs to be improved. Many companies use self-evaluation. Self-Evaluation can include a wide range of areas such as sales targets that an employee will be required to meet; the average number of calls per hour that a customer service representative might be expected to handle; or simply the expectation for …show more content…
You may choose to publicly recognize their performance, such as selecting an “employee of the month” or reward them financially in the form of an annual bonus. Even simply telling your employee face to face how valuable they are and that you as their manager, recognize their hard work and achievements can make a big difference in the motivation and attitude of an employee. Before you are giving a warning or disciplining to an employee about the consequences he/she has done, the employer should always make sure that his/her has accommodated the code-related needs that are known. Discipline policies are policies that address employee behaviors and performance. Discipline policies involve corrective action steps to redirect behavior or enhance the performance of employees who are not meeting goals. Each employee should give an employer offense for discipline before being termination. A lot of companies gives the employers first Offense: which is a Verbal warning; note in an employee file, Second Offense: Is a written warning; note in the employee file, third Offense: Two-day suspension; note in employee file and the Fourth Offense: will normally be termination. This can include anything from a demotion, pay cut or loss of employment. It is important for management to clearly define exactly what the employee must do and the time frame in which this must be accomplished. When I failed to meet the requirements when missing days due to illness, even with doctors note I was terminated for missing too many days.
