Personal Narrative: My Love For Myself

Improved Essays
Sometimes I find myself hovering over the thought of life. My desire to discover the multiple, numerous definitions of this parallel universe proves infinite. I may have not lived through the full breadth of my age to completely appreciate the various aspects and wonders of this world, but I always strove to expand and fuse my abstract, yet sophisticated creative vision into my understanding of the world. Through every passing day I discover new limits for myself and this had me realize that my only obstacle to greatness was my lack of confidence. However, I’ve never felt more empowered, courageous, and fearless, and this is because I found a way to accept myself for who I am and I learned a lot about self-development through trial and error. I learned to create balance through negativity, because I discovered that only through darkness is a trail to the light. I may have made some mistakes in the past, but I learned to move past my faults and find a way to build structure through failure. I’ve always defined my weakness as strength, durability and room for expansion. Working hard has always been the only option to reach my goals and I wasn’t going to settle for anything that I didn’t have to fight for. In a way, I learned that I won’t be okay with getting something done because it had to be done; I had to have a reason strong …show more content…

Who am I? That is a very deep question. I think the only way I can answer that truthfully is by saying, I do not know exactly who I am, but I know who I want to become. I want to become a well rounded individual, someone who everyone likes and looks up too. I want to be someone my family can be proud of.…

In Josh Sundquist’s book Just Don't Fall he covers many aspects of the average human and the way we go about things. One aspect that I like is he really strives to show the drive, and the urge to never give up no matter what circumstances you are presented with. After reading this book I really decided to rethink many aspects of my own life and questioned how determined am I to actually do stuff. One way I plan to apply this to my own life is by putting all my effort into something if i'm going to even bother with it in the first place. What I mean is I don't wanna half ass it if my names going to be on the paper.…

When asked to define myself in one paper, I find it hard to show the details that I want to in the right light. When asked about my future after high school, I also have a hard time describing everything I want to get done because there are far too many things to name. The quote “ _____” (i want to be everyone and do everything and there isn’t enough life to do it all in) describes me to a tee, and I believe this college is the place I could do this in. Being a shy person for most of my life, many things were difficult for me. Specifically, last summer I had the opportunity for a summer job.…

I know I am a workaholic and I am trying to get away from this I am learning to delegate and put my foot down, especially saying “No”. I know I have always felt satisfied when I kept doing more and endlessly tiring myself. I know I have been encouraged by my own self to be me, to be straight with people and with my own self; my own wants and feelings rather than crooked and covert. In this manner I am learning to understand what I want and possibly how to get it.…

One day as I leisurely read, I stumbled upon the following quote, “Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” On a website comprised of many short yet moving quotes, this one quote in particular was the most tangible to me in the entire collection. For weeks, I pondered on the very essence of strength and questioned what hardships have I endured and how was I strengthened by it.…

When I think about the boy who I was growing up, the young adult I am today, and the man I plan to be in the forthcoming years, one aspect of my life stands out to me far more radiantly than anything else: my culture, my skin, my identity as a Bangladeshi-American. There aren't many clubs or organization for Bangladeshi Americans such as myself. Make no mistake, there are certainly events for Bangladeshis living in the United states, many that I have attended due to various entreaties from my parents. These are event where the only language spoken is one that I barely speak (Bengali), the only music conversed about is that which I don't listen to or understand, and the only events discussed happen in another country that I have spent only a…
