The Importance of Romans 3:21-31 is Paul explaining and spreading the knowledge of righteousness. Maier includes in his text, verse 22, which states “The righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe”. The reason Maier puts such emphasis on this verse is due to the fact that it explains Pauls’ purpose for writing this chapter. Throughout this article Maier mainly focuses on Romans 3:21-31, but also includes other chapters of Romans along with Romans 3:1-20. Maier’s purposes for writing this article include breaking down the meanings of specific verses, enlightening people in the present time of Paul and why he wrote about this experience, and proving that the words are genuinely Pauline. Although Maier’s main focus in this article is breaking down Romans 3:21-31, he makes it seem of importance to know verses 1-20. The reason for this is because in verses 1-20 Paul discusses that whether you are a Jew or a Gentile, God sees all as equals as long as you show faith in Jesus Christ.
Romans 3:23 says “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. Maier discusses in his article how Paul goes about the understanding of this verse. All of the disciples must understand that all have sinned, but this does not mean God has turned his back on them. This relates to the saying of “nobody is perfect”, which is more known for people in the present day. I believe the purpose that Paul has behind this verse is to prove to the Jews that they are no better…
