Respect, to me, is a very important virtue, one which society nowadays has been pushing farther and farther away from our day-to-day lives. We have gotten to the point on which finding a respectful person in the general public is as hard as finding water in the desert, and this has to stop. This will stop in the moment we realize that respect is what we need in order for us to live happy lives and be able to live peacefully together. A respectful life is a beautiful life. It is full of harmony with everything and everyone around you; making you feel good about yourself, and everyone feel good about you. Once we let this into our minds and we understand the power of respect, we, as a society, will be able to live harmoniously together as a family. Respect is the source of every other virtue in our lives, which is why it is so important to apply it. Respect, according to the dictionary, is “a deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements”. If you admire something, then you will do anything to keep it that way, and protect its integrity, because you care for it. …show more content…
A few days ago, I went to one of my girlfriend’s family reunion and an uncle of hers gave me a piece of advice when she introduced me, he said “be respectful with her, it’s free”, and he was absolutely right. Respect should always be alongside with us, because it is what will make us stand out from the rest. By being respectful you will allow yourself to develop healthy relationships because you will be different from everybody else, and by being respectful, you will be able to maintain the integrity between you and your friends and acquaintances.
