SAIL is a mentorship program for freshman. I mentor a class of twenty-three freshman with the SAIL program. Where I inform them of upcoming events, answer questions they might have, and plan team building activities to help the students become more comfortable with each other and me. This demonstrates my respect of them and builds their respect of me and each other. These fun, humorous activities also reduce the awkward tension between the students and myself. I organize a group of 5 volunteers to run a slideshow during the service. I rotate the volunteers each week with only one being required to work the projector each Sunday. I also take the time during the week to create the slideshow so that I know the presentation is correct and available for the volunteer working that week. For me to be successful, though, I must evoke confidence in my volunteers and show them their value within the church community. I host a meeting each May where we eat pizza and discuss how each volunteer feels about their contributions and what they feel needs improvement or better communication. The meeting concludes with the volunteers feeling valued and appreciated, which fosters mutual
