The Importance Of Reflective Writing

Reflection is to revise, to rethink and to take a step back and make sure something is at your best preference. This term is one that I always knew existed, but didn’t apply it to my own work or to my own life. However, now that I know exactly where to apply it, I realize it doesn’t have to be only in education. It could be used in education, in one’s career and life says Sandra L. Giles. It’s interesting because I know exactly what it is, yet I never found the urge to actually apply it. Or if I did, I didn’t realize I was reflecting. Sandra L. “ To revise is to re vision or re see to re think these issues” says the instructor of this piece. I can agree with this however, sometimes I believe it is better for someone else to “re see” your work because they may catch something that doesn’t make sense or just catch something you didn’t. I feel like a writer should always have a second opinion rather than just themselves. During my project 2 of my English class, I was the only one revising my own work, until I asked one of my mentors being my cousin who also attends Sac State, to look it over for me and make sure it flows right. During the process, there were many flaws I didn’t even realize it had and the sentence placement was a bit off. Not only will I now attempt to apply these methods to my own education but also to my life and make it a habit of mine.
