Personal Narrative: Receiving My First Car

Improved Essays
Receiving my first car had a very important significance in my life. Since I was a child, I’ve always admired to drive, regardless of whether it was over my dad’s lap. Once and a while he would give me the chance to drive around the neighborhood or in non-busy streets to get the hang of it little by little. By the age of sixteen, I acquired my driver’s license, which meant that I could drive by myself without the company of someone by side me, this felt more like freedom than a license. My dad would authorize me to drive his car when he would return home from work and I cherished the feeling of just going out by myself, I explored the feeling of being responsible and free. As time went by, I began to construct my own life by attending Keiser University and working in Miami International Airport as well. I didn’t have any method transportation, throughout a certain time I began to struggle to arrive to my destinations. My father began to see that I was in urgent need of an auto so we began to search for autos in each place imaginable. We went almost about everywhere until we found the perfect automobile for me. I was really excited about receiving my first car. Furthermore, receiving my car was a tremendous obstacle in life for me, it provided me with the independence that I desperately needed.

I can affirm that I have changed as a person, I have become more independent. I handle my business at any time that I please. I have more responsibility, but more importantly, I could go whenever and wherever I want. It feels admittedly honorable not to depend on other people to take you to your destinations anymore. I feel more responsible for my priorities. I can actually feel good about myself as a person with just having a car. I admit that it is something materialistic, but to me its way more than that, for me it’s a sign of the freedom that I’ve been wanting to have for several

On a beautiful clear morning of February the 19th, my mom picked me up from my class at the University of West Georgia, then we went to Waffle House to have a nice breakfast. We left from Waffle House, proceeding down Maple Street, and turned onto South Street and immediately onto Kenner Street. We then turned onto on the merging lane on South Park Street (US Hwy 27) heading south, we immediately halted to a full stop as vehicles moved from the middle lane into the merging lane in front of us, but at that time there were no vehicles behind us. As we waited to enter traffic, a car suddenly struck us from behind which caused the car to jerk violently forward, causing my mother’s chest to hit the steering wheel, and our heads and bodies to whip forward and then back.…

Josiah, I liked the way you structured your introduction to your meaningful place, by juxtaposing it against conventionally sought tourist attractions and by painting a quaint, picturesque image using the details along Reesor Road. As such, the Robert Frost allusion fittingly contributes to the tranquil atmosphere with which Reesor Road is portrayed. A poignant point in your essay was when you mentioned that your family entrusting the Toyota for your utility resembles a rite of passage. How might this shift in faith as you enter emerging adulthood relate to parental expectations of your obligations as a young adult?…

The alarm goes off at 8:15 AM like every morning. I roll out of bed, shower, slap on some sunscreen, put on my uniform, and head to work. Getting there, of course, is simple. I hop in the car, punch the button to start the engine, put the windows down to feel the summer breeze, plug in my phone to blast my go-to driving playlist, and I’m ready. Before I set off to lifeguard, a voice reminds me of what my grandma said when I first began driving, “I’m not afraid of you driving, I’m afraid of other drivers.”…

My first car was something that I greatly was looking forward to getting as a child and my interest in getting one grew, as the days got closer to my sixteenth birthday. The first car I owned was a Automatic Black 2004 Ford f-150 truck, which I discovered on a website called Craigslist. It was priced at five thousand nine hundred dollars with only eighty-four thousand miles on it, which in my case was great considering that I could only afford a seven thousand dollar car. The truck came with all manual locks and windows and also had a small amount of hail damage that could really only be seen at a certain angle. But even with reasonable price on the truck I still attempted to negotiate for an even lower price to further my luck.…
