Personal Narrative That Changed My Life

I distinctly recall investing my entire being into reading and writing around the age of four. My mother and father stepped foot onto this country’s soil with merely three small duffle bags stuffed with all of their personal items. With a lack of money and a severely strict budget, they had to do whatever they could to provide my sister, my two brothers and I with whatever was necessary to live. My father worked numerous jobs throughout the day and night as a taxi driver, a Time Warner cable guy, a plumber, etc. In the mean time, my mother worked as a secretary in a small private doctor’s office for what would be considered an illicit salary in comparison to minimum wage. Because my parents worked all day and night and didn’t own any type of technology for entertainment, my siblings and I would invest all of our time into reading books. The feedbacks full of praise and approval for my writings weren’t only from my family, but also from my friends, classmates and teachers.
After graduating elementary school, I entered my middle school in the Creative Writing Talent with a 98 on the writing section of the entrance exam; I continued to impress my teachers and classmates. I remember a specific time when I read aloud one of my stories that was so gruesomely detailed with gore and tragedy that some of my classmates, with shaken faces, begged my teacher to make me stop.
Hearing so much about high school and the challenging work given, I was ecstatic. I couldn’t wait for something that could challenge me in terms of writing and I yearned for that four-year time span when my writing skills could
