Pursuing a career in psychology with a Bachelor’s degree, will most likely not achieve my desired goal. However, it will get me close enough to feed into my desire goal, and that is working with people on a personal level while having the ability to aid them to personal growth.
Traits
Currently, the traits I possess from Davis, (2014) review table, on (p. 25) which will enhance my marketability are honesty/integrity. I did not learn this in my childhood; these personality traits are part of a lifelong process. According to the author of Theories of Personalities, (2013) stresses, personality traits are an accumulation of learned responses or habit systems. Teamwork skills, I acquired in the military, twenty-two years of learning to work as a team. I can hold my head up despite enormous personal attack, knowing that my Father continues to be proud of me and I continue to pursue a spiritual foundation through Scripture, and good works in order that I may grow in my faith.
Occupation. After reviewing the list of potential careers with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, I see that I want to pursue my education to become Child Abuse Counselor. However, since I do not have the funding to continue my education, I have chosen Social and Human Service Assistants. This profession will allow me to be more mobile and assist in a variety of fields, such as psychology, rehabilitation, social work, including support for families. I feel that with my ability to take the initiative, I could better assist clients in identifying and obtaining available benefits and social and community services.
The job requirements require one to be an active listener, be service oriented, have social perceptiveness and be able to speak and write
