I’d never thought I’d be interested in pursuing Psychology in University, but it makes sense looking back now. I have always been fond of working with children, and I understand the issues they may face as they reach their teenage years. From the age of twelve, I suffered from depression and self-harm. I struggled with my identity as well as my body image, something many teenagers have troubles with as they mature. I was in a dark period of my life, but since then I have learned to love myself and receive love from people around me. Because of this, I am passionate in doing everything in my power to help children and teenagers facing the same obstacle I faced at their age. I know how difficult it can be when you feel like nothing in your …show more content…
Living in Shanghai has given me a wider scope of the world, and has allowed me to integrate with the people and learn more about their rich culture firsthand. Over the years I have grown to love Shanghai and all its quirks, and although leaving China was painful and terrifying, I know I am very lucky to be able to experience the world at such a young age. In the fall of 2014 I joined sixth form in the Royal Masonic School for Girls in Rickmansworth, and this chapter of my life has made me more independent and confident as a young adult. The idea of living thousands of miles away from home was inconceivable to me, but I learned to love my independence as it allowed me to grow and mature on my own. I was a frequent traveller before coming to England, but actually living here for an extended time has made me appreciate its completely different culture and …show more content…
I began to take an interest in football at the age of eleven and joined the school team in the autumn of 2009. For five years I played on defense as well as making friends with the older girls who’ve been on the team longer than I have and new girls who join every year. Although we weren’t the best team comparing with the other schools, we always had fun during tournaments and never failed to show good sportsmanship. Playing football and being part of my school team helped me develop my leadership skills as well as working as a group. In the first year or two I’d get upset that we wouldn’t win every game, but as I grew up I realized that having fun and playing the sport I loved was far more important than winning. Another hobby of mine is photography, and in 2013 I joined my school’s Photography Club, where my techniques and skills greatly developed. I learned a lot about the different types of cameras and how I should capture the best shot possible, and as a club we’d go on “photo walks” on the weekends and capture every crevice of Shanghai. I had enjoyed my first year in Photography club so much that I decided to run for Secretary of the club the following year. I was elected because of my organised and tidy persona, and I enjoyed another great year discovering my artistic and creative side. Cookies for Kenya was another club that I really enjoyed, because it combined my love for baking with my

Personal Statement Almost everyone had a rod in hand as they walked through the main street headed for the pier or docks to try and reel in a tasty morsel for dinner. In my small fishing village surrounded by serene mountains and lush waters, I grew up distant from many of life’s amenities and creature comforts. Surrounded by family and relatives, I lived in a capsule of love. Little did I know that in several years, I would be on a plane bound for the United States, uncertain about my future but resolve in my dreams.…

In sixth grade, I wanted nothing more than to make Lusher’s middle school flag football team. I had dreamed of being on the team from the very first day I heard about it; all of my friends were trying out with me; and we had grand plans for a year of non-contact, semi-athletic exertion ahead of us. Having been anxiously awaiting the lunch period when the team roster would be revealed, I was thusly dismayed, disappointed, and disheartened when my name was not one of the eighteen posted on the PE office door. My mother, in all her eternal wisdom, saw a way out of the pit of despair I had sunk into: Lusher was starting an Academic Games team, and she thought I might enjoy playing. I was more than somewhat hesitant; she was more than somewhat…

As I looked through the old videotapes on my shelf, my eyes fixated on one tape that wasn’t labeled like the rest of them were. I pulled it off the shelf, popped it in the tape player, and leaned back on my couch. Play. The tape started off with younger me running around a grass field attempting to kick a soccer ball further than a couple of inches. Every time the ball left my feet, my eyes would light up and a small laugh would escape my mouth.…

True and significant life is found in Jesus Christ and because of my firm conviction of this it has been my primary objective to point people to Jesus. Being persuaded that Christ wants Christians and especially those who take leadership roles to minister to the needs of others, I have ordered my life to conform to that conviction. Ultimately, Jesus desires that each Christian serves him by serving others; this is accomplished in a variety of ways – feeding those who are hungry, teaching everyone the life saving Gospel, and by leading in a way that reflects the glory of Christ. It has been my immense pleasure to have had the opportunity to preach God’s Word to thousands of people over the past fifteen years. It is my sincere passion to see people embrace Christ Jesus as their Lord and savior and to be transformed by the renewing of their minds through the Word of God.…

For a long time, psychology has been an area that I’ve been consistently drawn to. Originally, the thing that brought about my interest was human behavior and how it can be analyzed and interpreted; and also what drives our behavior. Going along with my previous statement, serial killers are another reason I wanted to learn as much as I possibly could about psychology. I started reading about them when I was between the ages of 12 and 13, first about the well-known ones that I had already heard a little about and then I moved onto the lesser-know ones.…

College Admissions: Personal Statement Throughout our many years of schooling, we are taught the importance of attending post-secondary school. As a result, many students aspire to move onto college after they graduate from high school. Students work through high school to achieve all the requirements that are needed for college and even sometimes, more. This is because depending on the post-secondary school a student chooses, sometimes the ability to be accepted is fairly difficult.…

Football has been something I’ve loved since I was extremely young. I not only love the physicality of the game, but the strategy behind every play. For me, playing football at recess was non-negotiable regardless of how many times the boys would tell me girls couldn’t possibly handle football because of our “inherently dainty weaknesses.” I never let ideas or people like that push me around. In order to play football, I had to be twice as good as anyone else who stepped out onto the field.…

Writing an essay about personal interest and goals is something I had never done before. I believe this is a good opportunity to write about my goals, and make them public rather than private, or just being concerned with my close relatives. When I was a child I started to dream about what I wanted to be, like the majority of children, and I also started to hear comments from family and teachers about different fields. Later on, I learned I was a people person, I enjoyed very much talking to friends and especially my aunts, that always have a good story to tell, even when they said that story was “not for my age”.…
