During my undergraduate studies, exposure to sustainability and our environmental problems created in me an urgency to take action. However, there were no dialogues happening in my surroundings that I could participate in and formulate a role that I can play. Undeterred, I researched the eminent men and women, who introduced me to sustainability, sought out and learnt from experts over the internet, and found outsourced work to gain experience. By acting as a guide to those who were inspired to become LEED professionals after me, I acquired a group with whom I could team up to practise designing green building in our class projects. I know that through Anderson’s culture of sharing I will not lag behind due to my lack of Finance coursework. Learning from classmates as well as the option to start Finance electives early in first year will prepare me for a Real Estate internship. Subsequently, the Finance Track with Real Estate specialization at Anderson will bridge the gap between my current role of an architect, and that of an Asset Manager. I look forward to take courses such as ‘Real Estate Finance & Investments’, ‘Entrepreneurial Real Estate Development’ and ‘Social Entrepreneurship, Housing and Sustainability’. Experiential opportunities, such as – a Real Estate focused AMR project and ‘UCLA vs USC NAIOP Socal Real Estate Challenge’, will provide experience and qualify me for a Real Estate Asset Manager role. I wish to take up leadership positions at the “Anderson Real Estate Association’ and ‘Net Impact Club’. By combining experiences from both these clubs, I will be able to develop a business case to drive change towards sustainable development and management of Real Estate assets. I am also excited about the ‘TED case competition’, ‘Days on the Job’ activities and Ziman Center Career Mentorship program, as they will guide my career transition. My decision to attend UCLA Anderson was further bolstered when I learnt that students get involved with the Challenge4Charity (C4C)
