My Procrastination Takes Place Essay

Improved Essays
Everyone in the world procrastinates about something; whether it be washing dishes, doing homework, or getting dressed for work or school. Many people do not realize that when a person procrastinates they may hurt themselves in the future. As a human being, I procrastinate by not wanting to clean my dishes and leaving it for someone else, holding back on doing my homework, and not wanting to get dressed for school or work. Procrastination is in my life just about every day. For example, whenever I cook dinner for my family, I would always hold back on doing the dishes until someone else did them. One time I cooked dinner, and my mom told me to clean as I cooked which I did for the most part. When everyone had finished eating I did not want to clean, so I went to my room and waited for …show more content…
In the Article, the dishwashing scenario relates to my life because I did not want to do the dishes, so I put it off until someone else did them. Another example is that I always wait until the last minute to do my homework. When a teacher assigns homework, I always say I will do it right when I get home, but that never really happens. Take this essay as an example of pushing back homework. I received this assignment on a Tuesday and it is now Sunday, the day before it’s due, so that goes to show that I do not do homework right when it’s assigned. This affects my future self because I must spend all day doing an assignment that I could have worked one days ago, and it might not be as great as it could be, if I had started on it days ago. Every day when I wake up, I never want to get ready for school or work. I will always snooze the alarm as late as I can, and when I do wake up I sit around doing nothing. When it’s finally time to get ready I will walk slow and slowly get dressed, until I must run out the house before I am late. This could

Although I’ll admit I’ve procrastinated at times, for the next two years I look forward to avoid doing so because I know, from past experience, how terrible a habit it is. In middle school, I made the wrong choice and procrastinated very often, forming a bad habit that I brought to PACE ninth grade. Because middle school curriculum was significantly easier, procrastination was not a significant problem, but in high school it definitely became one. It was then I realized if I…

Have you ever been a victim of procrastination? More than likely, it’s safe to say that everyone has procrastinated at some point in time. For some, however, this tends to become a habit. In “This Was Supposed to Be My Column for New Year’s Day”, by John Tierney, and “The Procrastination Doom Loop--and How to Break It”, by Derek Thompson, opposite opinions are shown in an attempt to defend their beliefs. Thompson’s, however, appeared as more accurate.…

I learned that there are three types of procrastination: doing nothing, do “something less important” (Graham p.1), or do “something more important” (Graham p.1). The good procrastination is “avoiding errand to do real work” (Graham p.1). One of the most interesting things I read was there is a risky form of procrastination, it is unrecognized because it doesn’t seem like procrastination, which is when you are “getting things done. Just the wrong things” (Graham p. 2). What Graham suggests how to avoid procrastination is deceiving yourself into doing your work.…

I realized that my procrastination was getting out of control during my sophomore year in college. I worked 40 hours a week, and I was also a full time student. My grades suffered due to my procrastination, and my job was my top priority instead of my education. During my sophomore year, I would stay up all night writing papers the day before the paper was due, and I would also pull all-nighters the day before an exam. I ended the first semester of my sophomore year with a 2.6 GPA and I was…

By definition, according to the Cambridge University Press (2017), procrastination is “the act of delaying something that must be done”. In other words, procrastination is postponing or putting something off (something of some importance). According to Joseph Ferrari PhD, a professor of phycology at DePaul University in Chicago, “everyone procrastinates, but not everyone is a procrastinator” (p. 1). This ties into the main idea that everyone procrastinates to some degree. The kitchen was so dirty after I started cooking, I was embarrassed of myself. Even guys do not make messes as much as I did that day. I was cleaning when my older sister walked in, at five o'clock, right away I told her what happened, I told her the truth and begged her not to tell mom what actually happened otherwise she would kill me. She said that she will not, and told me to clean up the kitchen and started cooking herself, and I was a mentor again because I am a person that is not responsible enough to cook. So, I first cleaned the stove because, the stove was the most dirtiest, then the walls around the stove, after the pot and the wooden spoon that almost burned.…
