Outcome 5 Although I am inexperienced when it comes to planning lessons for classroom instruction, I do know that one of the most effective means of instruction comes through differentiated instruction. This is the basis for much of education, with the main goal of helping to reach all kids and help them to realize their full potential in the field of academics. Teachers must also be prepared when it comes time to teach a lesson. It is vital to utilize the time in the classroom to focus on learning and achieving goals. Lastly, when it comes time to assess students on the information they have been learning and working with, it is vital to provide multiple ways for students to demonstrate the knowledge that they have gained through your instruction. …show more content…
It is difficult to cover all the material that needs to be presented in a lesson at times. This is why it is so vital that the teacher not waste time scrambling for materials after the period has already begun. Time management must be used well if a teacher wishes to find success when it comes to classroom instruction. It is important to act as a guide in learning, rather than acting as a dictator in the classroom who holds all the answers. Students must be allowed to follow their own path to discovery. Sometimes it can be acceptable for teachers to adapt lessons if students show a particular interest in a topic, or if they struggle to grasp a concept right away. Flexibility and adaptability are very important to a certain extent, but it is also important to maintain some sort of stability in the classroom as well so that a progressive pace remains. At the foundation of all lessons there must be a standard covered, or a goal met provided by the educational institution. Although multiple means of assessment should be given, all children will have standard testing that they will have to complete. This should not be the only goal, and teachers should not strictly teach to the test and leave no room for deviation. However, it is important to keep this in mind when teaching lessons to children, and they should be given some practice in the problem solving strategies that they will need to complete such assessments.
