Photography has always been a huge part of my life. I love taking pictures and looking at pictures. It allows me to capture memories of my family, friends, travel experiences, and the passage through life itself. As a result, photography helps me to become more aware of the moments in my everyday life. Playing with camera features such as the lighting, angle, depth of fields lets me see things that are not always visible through human eyes. I have learned not to only be a listener but a thinker also. Our classroom experience is very different than other schools. Since it is a private school, we are allowed to speak freely and discuss topics that normally are not allowed in a classroom setting. For example, a few months ago our class had a seminar on homosexual marriage and what the church stands for on this topic. We pulled out some talks from church leaders, scriptures and the proclamation of world and discussed it as a class. While this is a sensitive topic, I believe it’s very important to understand the principles and learn how to deal with important issues like this. The most special part about the education at my school is that we tie in the gospel in everything we learn, I have really benefited from that. If we didn’t have the scriptures or the words of God with us while we’re talking about same sex marriage, I wouldn’t be able to understand the full truth about eternal marriages. My testimony about the gospel grew and I was able to know what the truth is and why it is so important to know the truth, especially in this world full of temptations. American Heritage School has shaped me into a student that is willing to learn, study, and think beyond what is being taught at
