This article talks about the participation of patients in decision making. Participation, involvement, collaboration, all these terminologies refer to shared decision making which means that the patient can make a decision about his own health condition or sharing information between patient and professionals. This process stand of understanding the plan of healthcare. Patient participation means cooperation for understanding information and recognizing responsibilities of the patient itself and it is refers to the relationship between patient and nurse. From another view, patient participation is cooperation for getting services through money and involvement in decision making. And providing information to the patients helps in empowering patient in making decisions. On the other side, national policies in Switzerland concentrate on patient rights and involvement. There is no native program uplifting shared decision making but a little decision support tools have been improved. In France, patient participation in decision making is supported but the activation is slow. As same as UK, France has some researches of decision making but little at a national level.
