My Past Leadership Experience

Improved Essays
Please describe your past leadership experience. You may reference any contacts. I am an ASB member as of right now, (8th grade), and so far have been in three committees. In this program, I have hosted a lot of successful events, such as school wide puzzles, the first dance, and a kindness activity for thanksgiving. I also spread awareness through posters of kindness and upcoming events. Also, I am a member of WEB, (Where Everyone Belongs), where 8th graders welcome 6th graders and host school wide activities to promote kindness and unity in school. I have hosted many activities with the 6th and 7th graders, making school feel like a community. A lot of these activities were learning about other people, and basically leading activities that help the younger students connect and open up to each other. I also taught a lesson on why to respect other people and students, and how important it is to make everyone feel good.

What, if anything, have you heard about Oak Park High School? I am excited about the freedom that I will be getting. I have heard everywhere that high school has more freedom, more loose rules, and the dress code isn’t as bad as middle school. I am excited to make my own choices, and be more independent than I have ever been. I look forward to this great experience. I understand that all of the extra freedom that I will be receiving will come with more responsibility and will probably entail more liability.
Although, this is something I am very excited about, I am enthusiastic about receiving the overall High School experience. I’ve been hearing about it since I was in 2nd grade (High School Musical, all that fun stuff). I get that High School won’t be exactly like the movies, or anything I could’ve imagined. But I am ecstatic to be able to gain the experience and then compare all the thing I've heard to all the things I

Leadership is defined as being a leader of an organization or a group of individuals. To me a leader is someone who will give their all to accommodate someone in obligation of assistance. A leader doesn’t give up on hard task and pushes to be an example for their peers. I have demonstrated my leadership in and out of school by being a responsible, honest and hardworking individual, who expresses empathy to help those who didn’t think they could achieve a goal on their own. While in high school I have been in multiple extracurricular activities such as Drill Team, FBLA, FCCLA, Student Council, Class Treasurer, NHS and Yearbook.…

Sometimes I wonder why, out of every city, town, and suburb in the entire country of the United States, my grandmother chose to move to Lynn, Massachusetts. A city otherwise rich in history, but unluckily dubbed over by an ingloriously annoying jingle, “Lynn, Lynn, city of sin, you’ll never come out the way you came in.” I heard it chanted through elementary school hallways, mocked by middle school kids, and hummed by high schoolers. You would think its omnipresence would keep away travelers, but, then again, my grandmother didn’t speak English. She came over from the Dominican Republic thirty-six years ago, with my mother and her five other kids.…

Upon entering college, my high school career has set me apart from being a “normal” graduate. My unique personal interests, like volunteering at the animal shelter, define me as a passionate and hardworking individual. I have taken on a special interest in my friends at my local animal shelter, and with my free time, I enjoy helping wash dogs, playing with puppies, and cleaning kennels. The time I spend there is not only beneficial for the shelter, but also for me. I have learned the pay off for working at the shelter is worth a lot more than a few service hours.…

Reflecting on the past long, but yet short four years of high school, I cannot help but be exhilarated for the next four to come. I can remember the first day that I walked into the JROTC room like it was just yesterday, butterflies floating in my stomach, my nerves everywhere with a smile on my face because I knew that is where I belong. As time went I took advantage of the program by joining the Armed Drill team as another cadet. Within one year of hard work and innumerable amount of practice I became a squad leader following up to be the first female commander of the Armed Drill team that Sam Houston High has seen. With the proficiency that JROTC has taught me, I decided that it was time to seek out my dream by talking to a recruiter.…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

Descriptive Essay Nearly everyone had a high school experience, and many people have some kind of college experience. People who experienced both of these know how overwhelming the transition from high school to college can be at first. Dual enrollment is a great example of attending public high school and a community college at the same time and yet finding it to be a confusing contrast. For two places that have a similar purpose, which is to educate, the experience one will have at both places is far more different than one would expect.…
