We need various types of foods to give us the right amount of nutrients for our bodies to have good health. We have to eat a balance diet for good health and wellbeing. The foods we eat provide the body with energy, protein, fats, vitamins, and minerals to live and grow. A healthy diet provides great cultural and pleasures of life. In addition, foods and dietary patterns promote good nutrition.

Usually, vegetarians have lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, and lower rates of hypertension and type 2 diabetes than meat eaters. Vegetarians tend to have a lower body mass index, lower overall cancer rates and lower risk of chronic disease. A vegetarian diet doesn’t necessarily lead to weight loss, if the person is eating greasy meals, rice, pasta, bread, and cheese will potentially cause quick weight gain. Some vegetarians begin to eat light meal such as fish for the proteins their body is lacking. It is important for vegetarians to make sure they are getting key nutrients such as protein, fatty acids, iron, zinc, iodine, calcium and vitamins D and B-12.
