Neccesity Of Nuclear Energy
In the text “Power and Energy, The Benefits of Nuclear Energy”, Bruno Comby (2008) mentions that the neccesity of nuclear energy. He says that we must use the more sustainable energy sources for our future. In his opinion, we have to utilize nuclear energy source more than the other energy sources for environment. He believes that nuclear energy is a clean, safe and dependable energy source. Nuclear power should be deployed rapidly to take the place of coal, oil and gas in the industrial places. He claimed that wind and solar power occupy large areas but nuclear power implants are not very huge just like football stadium (Comby, 2008, para 16). He also said “They can make only a marginal contribution to the energy needs of a growing industrial civilation”. Yeah I partially agree with the writer but we should set up these energy sources more then nuclear. Using more renewable energy can lower the prices of and demand for natural gas and coal by increasing competition and diversifying our energy supplies. I also disagree with him about radiation. He said that there has been a radiation everywhere in nature since the earliest history of our planet. We know that the sun, planets and even universe contain radiation. “When life first appeared on Earth, the natural radiation levels were about twice as high as today. Most people are totally unaware of the fact that the human body itself is naturally radioactive”, Comby said that. This is true but one thing is wrong. That point is that What happen if we increase the radiation rapidly? As radiactive material decays, or breaks down, the energy released into the environment has two ways of harming a body that is exposed to it, Kathryn Higley said,director of the Oregon State University deparment of nuclear engineering and radiation health phsics. I believe that nuclear energy is very efficient for supplying electricity but I also strongly believe that renewable energy developed by us for our children’s future. I think that if we would like to live in this planet, we protect and save it for us. Day by day, people who awere of knowledge are increasing and they want to protect this planet. In my opinion,at the near future, there will be sustainable energy sources in everywhere but also nuclear power
