Yes, they do take time out of their day, but this is actually good for the student, as it gives them time to let their mind wander away from the demanding curriculum for at least an hour in their day. For a lot of students, the non- curricular classes are something they enjoy, therefore they’re happiness level is more likely to increase. For a student, almost every class has a lecture and some sort of assignment to follow that is generally homework. As they go to every class period they can easily become stressed by everything that piles up, so having a period where they take their mind away from these stresses can help stimulate their desire to then return to these studies with confidence. These classes are good for the student’s wellness, but it’s hard to provide money for both curricular based classes and non-curricular classes. Either way, one or the other and more often than not, both subjects end up not having enough or poor supplies for class. A school budget is really tough to balance as the expenses pile up, as the budget is observed it’s tough to note that the math classes need new textbooks, but the music program needs more instruments.
