Nomination and Election Process The basic procedure to be followed by chapters of Kappa Kappa Gamma in the nomination and election of chapter officers is found in: – Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity Bylaws (in the Article entitled “Chapter Organization and Management”), Standing Rules and Policies. – Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised. Outlined procedure, suggested options, and answers to questions included in this booklet are based upon the suggestions, requirements and rules of parliamentary procedure from these two sources. Any questions on this process may be directed to the District Leadership Development Specialist.

II. Nominating Committee – An Overview Although the Nominating Committee is a special committee, its importance

– Attend and participate in all meetings of the Nominating Committee. – Maintain confidentiality in regard to discussions and decisions of the Nominating Committee. – Maintain a sense of objectivity in deliberations of the committee and base decisions on the welfare and best interests of the entire chapter. – Tabulate and compile all recommendations contained in the individual slates from members of the respective academic classes. – Report to the Nominating Committee all comments, recommendations and preferences received from the respective academic classes. – Present to the chapter the qualifications of individuals selected for nomination to office. – Support the slate both publicly and privately, even if additional nominations come from the chapter.

Member-at-Large – Since this committee member does not represent an academic class, she does not have individual slates to compile. The member-at-large contributes to the committee’s work by bringing overall chapter impressions and making observations that will help the committee select the best-qualified
