What were at least five most important NAEYC Ethical ideals or principles for you? Why? 1. I-1.1 To be familiar with the knowledge base of early childhood care and education and to stay informed through continuing education and training. I believe all teachers and administrators should continue to study. I personally do this by taking Early Childhood courses. I learn new skills and ideas so that I can apply in my teaching.
2. I-1.3 To recognize and respect the unique qualities, abilities, and potential of each child. Every child is unique, and everyone has different characteristics. Teachers should be aware of that and treat with consideration.

I firmly believe a continuous training in early childhood education is needed every year to better facilitate children learning. The greatest benefit of continue education is that we are educated of the changes and developments in our field. We develop new skills and knowledge through continued education. As a result of my continued education, I have added ‘value’ not only to my life but also to the life of my children. Currently, I am taking ECD 60—Special Needs for Young Children. By reviewing the norm growth and development of children, I have learned to be more sensitive, understanding, and patient with children with special needs. For example, a girl might be struggling with inserting a block into the hole. She might be frustrated. Instead of helping put in back and putting her down, I would guide her to approach her problem. I would also encourage her by telling her, “You can do it.” I learn become more understanding of people and things just by being a teacher. I learn to teach with compassion. My goal as an educator is to make children love learning. I can do this only if I love learning myself. I am hoping that the children and my co-workers see my passion in me and I can set a good …show more content…
The responsibilities we have to take are not only to our children, but the families, colleagues and community in which we will be working. The code of Ethical Conduct offers guidelines for responsible demeanor and presents a general foundation for solving the principle ethical problems came across in early childhood care setting. The resource brings up for me the guidance of young children. As we know, guidance is a type of framework in which children can learn acceptable social practice and ways to express their feelings. Guidance encompasses setting clear, unswerving limits that have reasons and endeavoring to nurture self-esteem and

Ethics is the broad theme of ISLLC Standard 5. The activities related to this standard provided me with a means to reflect on my personal code of ethics, explore ethics from the perspective of a district official, and to hear others’ perspectives of ethics in the school organization. The first activity allowed me to interview Richard Stiverson, a school board member, regarding his code of ethics. The interview was insightful and did not veer far from what I consider to be ethical. With regard to this activity, I was able to grasp the notion that ethical behavior is paramount to building and maintaining trust in an organization.…

While it is important to follow codes laid out these codes do not always work for all centres or all situation. An example of this is the idea that “early childhood educators use developmentally appropriate practices when working with children” (Early childhood educators of British Columbia, 2008, p. 6). There have been times in my own practice where I have seen children thrive with practices that were a bit over their developmental age skill. In these times the child had fun and learned more practical knowledge and learned about themselves. It is important as practitioners to remember that not every child is the same and not every situation is the same which is why when working practitioners should remember the idea of situational ethics while assessing a situation be it the development of a child or…

“Exploring my Image of the Child” As Dahlberg (1999) explains, understanding and defining the ideal child is a difficult task. In fact, each person has their own definition of the child based on their own worldviews, thus, perhaps making ‘the’ child an abstract concept.
