Reflection On The My Story Project

Improved Essays
The My story project, gave me the opportunity to share my life story with my fellow classmates and the professor. It allowed me to show a more vulnerable side of myself and to become more comfortable with the people in my Messina. The goal of this assignment was to present a 5-minute high impact story, so we created our own high impact version of a TED talk. While watching everyone else’s presentations, I was able to engage in other’s stories. For example; I learned that Cayla is a twin, Maddie comes from a military family, Ryan is in band with his family, several people live near each other in Massachusetts, etc. Showing my video in class, allowed me to share my story in a more digital and engaging way. I chose to make a video as my medium to present to the class. Personally, I love making videos because they let me show my technological side and I can add any graphics I want. Videos are able to touch a viewer in a different way than if I were to just to talk to them. People connect with videos on a deeper level, by giving the viewer the opportunity to interpret the story in their own way. I thought this was a fun project to do, it gave us the chance to learn about our fellow classmates. In my opinion, I didn’t feel like I connected as much to the people in my Messina, but this project allowed people to open up and share their own personal stories. …show more content…
Most of the presentations were done by showing a video, or a PowerPoint. In my opinion, the mediums used were well put together and done exceptionally well. It gave me the opportunity to understand the background stories of other students and how they grew up. Meeting someone for the first time, after 18 years of their life is hard to adapt to a new friendship with that person. This project was a great way to showcase ourselves and describe our childhood in the medium of our

My experiences over the last six years living in NYC have shaped me into the approachable and compassionate person I am today. I have been immersed in a melting pot with many different culturally and economically diverse populations. These unique experiences have broadened my horizons and allowed me to gain valuable communication skills and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. I searched out opportunities to give back and help the people in my community both in volunteering in hospitals, educating high school students, and interning in private practices. I even traveled with the organization Medlife, setting up a medical clinic to provide basic medical care and education to people in the poor and underserved communities surrounding Lima, Peru.…

My writing experience: I didn’t start to read until I was in first grade. Every week we would go to library to check-out two books and take a test on the books we read on a computer. Every day in English we read a short story to ourselves then we would play games dealing with the story to make it fun. To be honest I never really did a lot of writing in Elementary , Middle, or High school so I can’t pinpoint when I started writing. In essay writing I learned its always good to express yourself with your own opinion.…

Unless I have a very strict and short deadline, my writing process begins with thinking and reading about the topic or subject matter of my paper. I don’t do a structured free writing or idea mapping session, but rather just read a bit to get familiar with the subject matter and to get my brain thinking about the subject. Once I am ready to begin writing. I start with the thesis statement is on the topic, is formatted correctly, and matches the purpose of the essay.…

Reflective Narrative 1 When I was thinking about what to do as a senior project, I knew that I wanted to do something helpful for the school, in an uncomplicated way. Since sophomore year, I’ve been involved in the school’s peer mediation program. It is a very valuable program in the school, so for my senior project I wanted to learn more about it as well as expand it by recruiting underclassmen and leading mediation trainings. The steps involved in planning this project included meeting with my mentor several times a week to discuss recruiting strategies and to plan trainings that I would be leading.…

My writing process usually involves me prewriting, planning, drafting and then editing. I often try to revise the paper while I’m writing it, which often seems to create more problems as I stop my thought process on what I was writing and focus on something else. While this has slowed me down, it has never stopped me from finishing something. I have always had an easy time writing in an environment where I don’t have any tight restrictions and can write freely about ideas for characters, stories, and worlds. I usually have trouble coming up with the right words when I’m required to write about very specific topics or ideas.…

I was called by my teacher today. I knew that he was impressed with my writing before and so had a relieving kind of feeling, but that all went away when I saw him. The facial expression of disappointment made itself clear. He started by telling how my paper was too good that it was impossible for this much improvement to happen. He tells me that I cheated or copied someone else’s paper.…

Writing has never been one of my strongest skills nor my favorite. Even though I enjoy reading another person’s writing the thought of someone else reading mine just sends chills down my spine. I wouldn’t consider myself a decent writer whatsoever. This defiantly gets in the way of how I feel about writing at times, because it makes me insecure of what others are going to think after they finish reading my essay. When I signed up for ENGL 1301 I was quick to assume the course was just going to consist of reading a lot of material and taking quizzes that covered the readings.…

Reflection About Classroom Teaching Experience Being an educator is a challenge and a new learning experience each time. As an educator, I am entrusted with the responsibility of shaping the way students think and feel in the classroom. I have always wanted to be an educator and share my experiences with the new generation of nurses. When I was assigned to work with professor Lynette Rayman to do my classroom teaching experience, I was thrilled because the topic I chose was chronic kidney disease which also happens to be my area of expertise. I had to incorporate my previous learning experiences to make my presentation lively.…

Overall, I was extremely happy with the effort my group put into this project. In terms of attending the group meetings, everyone was present and participated in the discussion. The first meeting took place on a Sunday afternoon at Baruch and the second meeting took place on a weeknight in the form of a Google Hangout. The times and places of these meetings alone displayed every group members’ commitment to the project, effort to accommodate for scheduling conflicts, and effort to ensure they are contributing their fair share to the group regardless the time or day of the week. At these meetings, we discussed ways to engage the crowd and critiqued each other’s slides and presentations.…
