There was a time when I was younger, first grade actually, when we had group sessions and we learned how to read age appropriate books. My love for reading and writing blossomed from there. I was put into a Foundations For Writings class because I did not take my ACT score seriously and scored fairly low in the writing portion of it. That class only consisted of writing three essays and I did not format them in MLA, I was still an amateur when it came to MLA; but I got by. I passed my Foundations class and took Composition 1 the following semester. That whole semester consisting of five essays, was a disaster. I learned nothing because my instructor, at the time, provided me with no feedback to learn from my mistakes and that is how I learn best. By the time I was enrolled into Composition 2 I still had a distaste for writing. Throughout the semester I learned something about myself. I learned that I have a certain way I like to organize my paper before I write. I have to do this type of pre-writing or I will never start or get anything accomplished. I also started to enjoy reading again and writing about what I am reading. In composition 2 all we did was tear apart literature and I was interested in every bit of it. I learned how to respect the aspect of writing again. I found a flaw in my writing and that was my foundation, my "base". I needed to start over and learn where I went wrong. I saw that my MLA citation was a weakness. That is why I am currently enrolled in Composition 1
