Even before high school, I realized early on that I thrive in all forms of the arts—from performing to creating, I have always been willing to try new artistic styles and mediums in order to further challenge and push myself. Because of this, I have a great respect for the fine arts, as my peers and teachers have taught me an array of lessons, about both myself and my creative style.
One of the most powerful lessons I learned is that the fine arts are a powerful tool for self-expression. Because of this, I try to use my abilities to their full potential as a way to voice my concerns with the world and our culture. Throughout my time in high school, studying the works of influential authors, scholars, and scientists, I reached a conclusion that knowledge is one of the greatest gifts a person can share with the world. This realization inspired me to one day make a difference through the talents and skills I constantly strive to develop—even if that is simply through sharing my creations in the hopes of inspiring others. I believe going to college is the first step in this process, as it would allow me to hone my craft, abilities, and beliefs. Through my diligence and dedication, I aim to publish diverse, positive novels that bring together my audience, and art pieces that provoke a desire to change the world for the better. Humanity is a bold, wondrous group with the capacity to create bold worlds and galaxies through their imagination, and I want nothing more than to share my creations with a world hungry for thoughtful connection. Ultimately, I am confident that college will help me to explore who I truly am and share my knowledge and discoveries with those around me. In order for me to begin my journey, however, I need the financial support to explore my future and the opportunities presented to me. As such, I am grateful for this chance MidAmerican is offering, and hope to receive the scholarship so that

Elbert Hubbard once said “Art is not a thing; it is a way.” Art is all around us; from the floor we walk on, to the color of the walls around us, to the music we listen to on the radio. Many kids have taken on a lot of different forms that did not exist many years ago. Today, we fill our world with street art not exactly thought about to be art like mimes, circus acts, puppetry, mask theater, vaudeville, and storytelling through movement (Rapp 4). Art is an essential part of our society today and has been for many years.…

I would sit on the dock and pour my thoughts into my green leather notebook.…

Every person in this world has an individual creativity built within them. My individual creativity personally took me a while to uncover, I only recently unearthed my true creativity during my junior year. I express my creativity through makeup, poetry, painting, drawing and redecorating my surroundings such as my room which I like to think of as my sanctuary because it’s the only place I can disconnect myself from everything, focus on myself and reflect on my days. Makeup is my main outlet of expression since that’s the one that’s in the spotlight and is a quote on quote paraded for the public eye to see when used correctly and minimally to enhance ones beauty it makes a person look more presentable and put together.
