My first working experience was to earn extra cash just to buy some clothes and movie tickets. Personally, this will make me feel independent and know the value of making money. It taught me how to handle and deal with my finances. I have to learn how to take public transport, how to interact with my colleagues, work with different types of people and learn to be on time. I will never forget my first job experience. It will always be an important part of my maturity and becoming a young adult. I had my first when I was seventeen. My first job was sending flyer in the mall. This job seem like easy but actually is pretty hard. You need to explain everything to the person every time they pass by and there are many people in the mall, so you have to keep repeat again and again. For different guests you need to use different kind of languages. This is a challenge for me, because you have to think fast and good efficiency. I met many new friends during my working day. In this job also taught me a lot of useful things. There is always an open mind, willing to work in any type of environment. Willing to adapt to the new workplace, always respect and treat my future supervisor, but colleagues are also. I look forward to learning and applying it. This job had taught me don’t be shy and be able talk in public. This is what I need to improve for myself. (258 …show more content…

In today’s world, people who work jobs that don’t require a degree are looked down upon. It is often ignored that the resources that are needed to obtain the education that is required for a white collar job, are not available to everyone. In Harvey Deutschendorf’s book, The Other Kind of Smart, he begins with an introduction talking about the differences between intelligence quotient (IQ) and emotional intelligence (EI) and how they can affect people's future careers. There’s an anecdote that Deutschendorf tells, about two Yale graduates with different IQs and EIs. One of the Yale graduates was incredibly brilliant in terms of academics, but when he was interviewing for jobs, he only got called back by a “second-rate company where he lasted for only three years” (Deutschendorf 4). In contrast, his roommate wasn’t as academically brilliant, but he flourished socially. He was able to translate his social skills into his future and solidify his career.…

For an adolescent, a first job represents an exciting moment in their lives. A job teaches responsibility, the importance of punctuality, performing duties in a timely manner, working independently or in a team to accomplish a similar outcome. It promotes character, teaches discipline, and tolerance of others. Equally important, is understanding that there is an authority that must be respected and obeyed in the job site, even though circumstances prevent a mutual accordance. But the true purpose of a job, in theory, is the independence offered by receiving a salary in exchange for the hard work performed.…

The analysis results from the various self-assessments have afforded me the opportunity to notice hidden aspects about myself. I have been able to perform contemplative and thorough self-examinations of my personality in order to determine viable methods to enrich my overall personality. It has been my experience that organizational behavior in many ways are similar to the institutionalized behaviors exhibited by those in orphanages or prisons. The similarities reside in the fact that the workplace is an environment where people from very different cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities and religious beliefs find themselves compartmentalized into an environment, directed towards a new way of life and then ordered to play nice…
