Personal Narrative: My Educational And Career Goals

My educational and career goals have changed a lot throughout the years; I have wanted to do everything from directing films to having the presence necessary to address the United Nations General Assembly. It seems like a wide range of possibilities but one thing they all have in common is that they all require an audience, not for fame or riches, but to have a voice that can reach those who need to hear it. My parents have always taught me that so long as I do good, through whatever I do, to be happy. Still, while one can be content in the moment, there are many hardships and discrepancies people face daily. One can choose to accept their circumstances and make the best of them or work to have a different life, but it is difficult to be really happy knowing that some people struggle with the ability or even the opportunity to do so.
Of all the ways there are to do good, my heart has consistently been with the arts. Regardless of my performance in math and science, even as a kid, I knew I wanted to create and inspire. Knowing how much of a struggle even an apparently comfortable life can unnoticeably be, I want for people to watch or listen, and gain a hopefully eye-opening vicarious experience. To accomplish any of this, I will have to stay enthused and not let myself be dissuaded by those opposed to my aspirations or beliefs. A solid education as a base would definitely assist and allow me to go further than without, as long as I apply myself in all my classes and not get so caught up in the textbook-to-test routine that I lose sight of what exactly it is I aim to achieve.
