Dental Hygiene Profession

There are many reasons that I want to engage myself into the Dental Hygiene profession, the satisfaction to helping people in need, sense of job security, working in the health care field, the amazing feeling of accomplishment, higher than average wages and flexible schedules are just a few. One of the most important aspects of entering the Dental Hygiene program is the satisfaction of helping people in need. No matter how rich or poor, how perfect or fair your teeth are, there is always someone in need of dental care. I receive a huge satisfaction in my heart knowing that I can make someones day a little better just by doing a basic teeth cleaning wether its your first time or one-hundredth a smile always lights up someones day. Dental Hygiene is not just about taking care of someones teeth, it’s the whole package and atmosphere of their visit that counts. I am a very warm and friendly person who will make sure that every single person that I tend to will leave with a smile. Employees in the Dental field are in high demand which demands a high salary. The average salary for a dental hygienist in 2012 was 70,210 per year which equally $33.75 an hour. Although I am not doing this profession simply for the good pay, money unfortunately runs our world, and in order to survive, a good salary is a must. Many Dentist offices are only open during the day, closed on weekends and holidays, and most do not have a night shift. I am very excited to start my profession in the dental hygiene field, but I also need time for a personal life, such as running errands and taking care of the family which is all doable thanks to the very flexible
