Motivation is the great catalyst which fuels the leaders of today and tomorrow. My ambition has fuelled me to assist my community and my environment for a brighter future. Also, this same determination has led me to take initiative to lead for changes in the local and global community. In addition, my curiosity and the need to learn more about various subjects is constantly stimulated by my drive. From what I’ve read about the previous Loran Scholars online, many of the scholars had some form of motivation which led them to do similar activities I have done. For instance, for well over a year now, I have been helping out the Burns Bog Conservation Society. The Burns Bog Conservation Society strives to educate the public about the importance and conservation of the Burns Bog, a raised peat bog. My role at the society is to assist the educational coordinator with the preparation and execution of events, which are mainly intended to promote the conservation of the bog and sometimes raise money for the society. Over the last year and this year, I have used my time at DYAC to voice my concerns and solutions on school issues, so that the school system can flourish for the current and future students. As I have the chance to influence a change, or changes, in the Delta school system, I’m going to fully utilize the opportunity. In addition, I am apart of We Group, a student-led club that raises money for local and global causes. Just posting on a social media website about a cause is not enough. For change to occur, there needs to be action as well, which is why I was in We Group last year and this year. The smallest changes can create great impacts. Moving on, this year, I was elected to be on the school’s Grad Committee. In Grad Committee, I hold one of the positions of treasurer, so I plan to keep on top of our funds and come up with creative ways to raise extra money, so the events we organize can be outstanding. Also, I plan to help out with any aspect with the organization of events. Being a part of the committee means taking on the responsibilities the rest of the graduating class doesn’t want to or doesn’t have the time to. In brief, with my part in DYAC, I’m leading
