Money is the central focus in every society that exists today because money means power. Money means the difference between survival and total failure. In college total failure ensures a future of mediocre jobs, and this is why it is important to be financially wise when going through college. Today the price of tuition for colleges is the highest that it has ever been, and that price is still continuing to rise. A lot of college students are being forced into debt as they follow their dreams because they do not understand the financial decisions that they are making. One way that I am going to have to learn while I am in college is through all that mistakes that inevitably I know I am going to make. While those mistakes are happening to me I know that they are going to suck, but in the end I think that they will be the experiences that I base other financial decisions on for the rest of my life. Another thing that I could do to help gain more knowledge is to listen to Dave Ramsey. My grandparents listened to him a lot and they applied what they learned from him, and they have been really successful because they are good at putting their money away. By putting their money away they have been very financially secure, and this is how I want to be by they time I graduate from college. I do not want to be like my step dad who is still paying off his student loans fifteen years after he graduated from college. I am open to the idea of taking out student loans, but before I ever do that I want to learn more about student loans. By learning more about this I will be able to be smart about the loans that I am taking out, and hopefully pay it back within a few years. I am planning on applying for a lot of scholarships this year so that my first year of college will be mostly paid for. During my whole college career I am also planning on applying for scholarships just to make sure that I always have extra money so that I am not paying for all of my tuition by myself. Working while I am in college will be necessary. I know that it was take a lot of my time, but in the end it will be worth it because I will not be in debt right out of college, and I will have more work experience that I currently do. The most important thing that I think I can do is to become more educated. I need to learn more about financial planning in order to make wise decisions with my money when I do not have my parents to lean on. These few things will hopefully help me to make it through college without going into
