Throughout my experiences in high school, I strove to be as involved with my community and fellow students as physically and mentally possible. When I began my educational career at Germantown, one extra-curricular activity that piqued my interest was marching band. Throughout my four years being involved with band, I learned perseverance, leadership, and performance techniques that I will use throughout the rest of my life. Something that everyone knows about me is my love for musical theatre. I have been involved with theatre and show choir for as long as I can remember. Theatre helps me escape to faraway worlds and become someone new. Without theatre, I would not be a comfortable public speaker and I would not be able to relate to a wide variety of audiences. The arts, in general, have helped me to stay loose and on my toes in hectic situations. The support that I receive from others for being involved with musical theatre is the reason it is important that people to know I am involved in

Yet the people that are not involved in the Fine Arts are more likely to have these false accusations. While most believe marching band is not a sport, is for the unpopular kids, and requires no prior skill, it in fact requires a great deal of time and dedication. A lot of marching bands practice on a daily bases, implying the dedication of skill and physical contribution it takes.…

It has taught me necessary values and life skills, such as time management, discipline, and camaraderie. Rehearsing two to three hours everyday after school forces a student to learn how to manage their time. From July through November, a large amount of time is consumed by rehearsals, football games, and competitions.…
