Love and sacrifice go together like a bird and its wings. In order to really love, someone must be prepared to make a sacrifice for the other person. Love is not about making one’s self happy, it is about what is best for the person one “loves,” even if it means losing something that means a lot to a person. Some people do not even realize they are in love until they take a huge risk for someone. Real love leads people to make a sacrifice in order to maintain a healthy, positive relationship, such as sacrificing in pride, wealth, faith, independence and physical well being. The best times to show true love are when it is not easy and it requires personal sacrifice. In “The gift to MAGI,” the poor couple makes a sacrifice to make each other happy without even knowing what they did for each other till the end. Jim, the man, has had this gold watch that was passed on from his grandfather to his father until him now. The watch meant so much to him, but Christmas was going to be the next morning and he hadn’t gotten anything for his wife due to money issues. He took the sacrifice of selling the one thing that had value not only to others but personal value to him, in order to get his lovely wife a comb she’s been wanting for the longest time for her hair. The brave men and women who enter the military forces sacrifice their lives everyday to give everyone in the United States of America their freedom. They put their own life in jeopardy every single morning when they wake up, knowing that something might happen to them during the day that at the end in the evening they may not get to return home and kiss their loved ones goodnight.
