Mary Austin said “go as far as you dare in the heart of a lonely land, you cannot go so far that life and death are not before you.” There is no perfect place in this world; I have to understand that everywhere I go, there is going to be things that I like and dislike about it. In America, however, there are more of the like than the dislike for me. I came to America as a refugee with my family. Life in America is completely different from life in my previous country. It may be hard for the some citizens and residents who grew up here to see it, but there are many reasons why America is a good place to be. To me, life in America is a land of freedom, opportunity, and diversity.

Fortunately, I am a person that is able to adapt to different situations quickly. In no time, I started to like the food, weather, and school. One of the thing I respect the most is the freedom that each and every one has. Freedom in America come in many levels and terms. The Bill of Rights, of course, includes the ten main rights that is made specifically for the people. In America, I am allow to express myself and my ideas. Any type of shoes, clothes, and accessories can be on me in however way I want it to be. Not that I would be doing it, but I can technically say things that would get people offended and still get away with it. If I disagree with anyone, I can say that I disagree and not having to agree unwillingly. Freedom of religion is one of the main reason why many people came to America. I can follow and worship a God(s) or I don’t have to worship any god; the decision is totally up to me. These are the reasons why I like and respect America. If I understand the history correctly, America has fought hard giving up their own lives for these freedoms.
