Leading and motivation is vital for business stability and success. Satisfying customers’ needs and wants can bring more profit, however satisfying the employees is likewise important in the whole process. Satisfying employees’ needs and wants can lead to high performance and higher loyalty and commitment to the company. It brings higher productivity and performance which will lead to higher profit, creates innovation and reduce the recruitment cost. Therefore, we will discuss the means of leading and motivation to satisfy employees’ needs and wants in the following paragraphs (Nibusinessinfo.co.uk, n.d.).

Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory
According to Herzberg, he suggested that humans have two different sets of needs which are motivators

Lack of these factors will not cause dissatisfaction, it only will not satisfy the employees (Tietjen & Myers, 1998). Workers are driven by the challenging work and its growth. Providing workplace growth by enhancing the work difficulty can let them gain achievement and cognitive development. People tend to perform better and if opportunities for advancement are given, and they will climb up for higher position in the management hierarchy (Chitiris, 1990). Every day, many people spend hours working for something that they have no passion. If they do not feel enthusiasm in their work, it could end up leaving the company. Therefore, design an exciting and challenging job is very important in order to ensure passion will take place in their daily …show more content…
Secondly, we will provide training to them to ensure they have the ability to do difficult tasks. Thirdly, we will provide feedbacks, praise them and recognize their work if they perform well. Fourthly, we will listen to their opinions, encourage them to get involved in the decision making. Lastly, we will set up goals and reward system. Once the missions are accomplished, they will not only be rewarded monetary bonuses, but also officially commended such as “Worker of the month”.

McClelland three needs theory

Managing and leading a group of people with different personality is never easy. McClelland (1961) proposed that there are three motivational needs which are need of achievement, need of power and need of affiliation. Research showed that employees who experienced great satisfaction will normally retain longer in the company (Porter & Steers, 1973).

Need of achievement consists of employees who prefer challenging works and advanced projects. They have strong desires to complete difficult but practical tasks and these individuals normally have eminent performance. Therefore, we will give regular feedbacks and assessment to let them know whether they are right or wrong.
However, we will prevent absolute dominance of achievement needs overwhelming power needs because they prefer to work alone which could break off team
