In my opinion, leadership, scholarship, and service all have one thing in common. They aren’t meant for everyone and they definitely don’t come easy. I believe that each and every day I exhibit these three qualities in my work, my personality, and my studies. First and foremost, I have taken many roles in college that exude how much of a leader I am and can be. In the Texas Tech Lions club, there has not been a semester that has passed by that I haven’t served as an officer. In my first two semesters I was privileged to serve as the Service Chair and get to coordinate all of the service projects. This schoolyear I have been diligently working as the club’s Vice President and next year I will be serving as the club’s President and overseeing …show more content…
As a biochemistry student never taking less than 16 hours, there have been times that have needed more time and effort than other. Nevertheless, I can proudly say I am carrying a 3.72 cumulative GPA halfway through my college career while managing honor courses and graduating a year early. Additionally, this semester I have taken my scholarly habits into a new field: research. I am excited for the opportunity to learn hands on skills outside of a typical classroom setting and to expand my horizons. Lastly, but most certainly not least, I value the time I am able to spend doing community service. As mentioned earlier, I served as the Lions Club Service Chair so not only do I have experience completing service projects but also in organizing them. I take pride in the community service I have completed because I know that sacrificing my time to help others will change their world more than I will ever know. I believe that by being a leader in my campus and community involvement, consistently succeeding as a student, and by devoting nearly 15 hours a semester to service, I undoubtedly embody Mortar Board’s values of leadership, scholarship, and

This year I was involved in planning the annual blood drive for my school. This activity was time consuming as it involved a lot of planning. I knew that I had to work hard in order for the event to be a success. I also had to utilize some of my leadership skills in order to make the event happen. Growing up, leadership has always played a huge role in my life. It has helped me grow as a person and allowed me to learn new skills. In middle school, I enjoyed working with my peers to organize events and help others. For example, as a member of my school’s choir, I took the opportunity to help organize concerts, design brochures and make posters to inform the school community about upcoming concerts and events. In addition, I took part in the fundraiser to help raise money for our music department at Carson.…

The National Honor Society is based on four pillars, which are, Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. In some ways, I have already shown three of these pillars in my first two years of high school. However, there are several other ways in which I plan to lead my school, serve my community, and build my character, during my final years of high school. As I have mentioned, there are some ways that I have already shown leadership, service, and built my character during my first two years at Parkway South.…

My involvement as President of this years National Honor Society at Burlington High School has been one of great dedication and hard work. I have to say, it has not been an easy task, but it has taught me an aray of different lessons dealing with management of particular tasks and using time more efficiently. My life is hectic enough as it is living on a farm, playing high school sports, and challenging myself academically as much as possible, and NHS has only added to that work-load, but in no way would I ever change my decision to be a leader of NHS. This year has been extremely rewarding to me as I have launched two projects, one of which has been completed as my project team and I helped get seniors registered to vote in Wisconsin for the upcoming election in November.…

With Veterans Memorial High School opening up towards the beginning of my sophomore year; it put multiple kids from different background together into one school. In the origination of the school, it was quite difficult to put aside the previous student body loyalties, biases, and come together to create something worth lasting which has never happened before. I saw this task at hand and I decided I wanted to take part in uniting this school. I would play a part in creating a future for the next generations that have come and yet to come. Bringing people together and creating a sense of unity in such a divided world plays off when I look back and see how hard I worked in the making of that community.…

John Quincy Adams once said, "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader". I believe I have demonstrated myself in those areas as a proven National Honors Society member in everything I am involved in. From being a youth mentor in my church, to leading in my extracurricular activities; my leadership was and still is heavily demonstrated in both my words and my actions. Being selected as a member would mean I will be devoted and pledged to all of the program and what it’s born to be and become. Also, bringing a vision and an attitude that I can change and influence those around me from the Inside and out.…

I feel as though I best demonstrate my character, leadership, and service by the way I interact with others. I've gained leadership and character by the clubs I am in at school. Operation Snowball has been a huge reason for the way I am today, I've gained leadership positions as a staff member in Snowball, Social Chair for Tennis, and Vice President of Junior club. These clubs have initiated the leadership role that I display to others around me. In the past three years off high school, I've grown largely as an individual and have transformed from being a timid child to a young adult who's biggest passion is to help other.…

I believe that my admission to the KU School of Nursing would contribute to this philosophy in many ways. I was raised in a community where a Hispanic woman, like myself, was not expected to graduate from high school, let alone attend college. The expectations for minorities are not set as high, which is unbelievable and also very sad. There is hope for minorities like me and I believe that my admission into your school would show my community as well as many patients that minorities can have a successful career and anybody can rise beyond where they were raised. I graduated from high school with honors, as well as with a full-ride scholarship to college.…

A leader is needed to guide those whose voices and/or actions are not as boisterous, in the pursuit of common good. That common good is shown through service for others, doing what is right despite the temporary physical toll. I hold dear to those principles and plan to embody selflessness throughout my life. Of my many activities, I believe my work through SSaLT (Student Services and Leadership Team) exemplifies selflessness the best. I can still remember the day when my parents told me the phrase, “You are a leader, not a follower.” It was in kindergarden right after I told them about a few girls who were making fun of a friend of fine, and I decided to stop them and defend her. When my parents told me that phrase, it definitely stuck with me throughout my life. I think that’s a phase most kids hear time to time in their childhood.
