It is the last day of class and I am in awe with emotions. I would think that I would be fulfilled with content, but instead I am anxious. While most of my colleagues are worrying about where to travel for the summer, I have the anguish insight of knowing that I will spend my summer studying for the frightening, intimidating, Law School Admission Test (LSAT). The only thing that is certain is that this test determines where I go to law school. The average debt that law school students consume is roughly $100,000 (Baum, 6). If I am going to be in debt, then I need to go to my dream school, which has always been Harvard Law School.

Ever since I began inquiring about becoming a law student, I was always fascinated with criminal law. I do not like math so I knew from the beginning that I could never become a tax lawyer. Family law? No. Corporate law sounded interesting, but I could not see myself doing that because it dealt with business. Although there were many types of laws that sounded interesting such as international law or entertainment law, criminal law stood out from the rest. I always enjoyed watching crime shows on television as a child. I knew my calling. I wanted a job that would make me feel content. Till this day, I recall having a guest speaker by the name of Nilo Cuervo in one of my prelaw courses. He was an Assistant State Attorney prosecuting serious felonies such as homicide. Out of all the guest speakers that were brought in that course, I believe his choice of career was one of the most fascinating. He talked about having a trial that placed a man to life in prison twenty-one years after committing a heinous murder. He mentioned how it brought great satisfaction to the loved ones of the murdered victim to see the man behind bars. He lit up as he spoke and I knew from that moment on that I wanted to practice criminal
