Language is the celestial souvenir of divinity only to the mankind. A language lends a hand to an individual in the progress of his or her own personality that distinguishes a man from an animal. In fact it is the language which transports the people of different cultures, traditions and communities nearer. Language is a means of exchange a few words, thoughts and feelings to other. The purpose of language teaching is to facilitate language learning. Teacher has to understand the concept of language teaching and learning because its nature is quite different. At present certainly English is the language of masses. Its significance is of extreme value in India as it has planted its roots deep in Indian culture. Here, in India without knowledge of English a man how high education he has, is considered misfit in contemporary society and illiterate. Its magnitude may be seen in all the spheres- political, academic, social, economical or social, of Indian life holding a major position. In this reference Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru rightly quoted, “English language is our's by historic necessity”.
English speaking people are mounting every day. In common routine life, even the uneducated citizens, unknowingly employ hundreds of English words, in market, parks, bazaars, at railway stations and bus stands, the hoardings and announcement are done in English language. Certainly now English language has intermixed in social life so minutely that people may not separate it or even sieve it out from their life. Moreover, the exploit of English at international level is also ever-increasing. In such ambiance people may not shun its exploit. Disdain, to it, will cost people a lot and they may remain backward and the frog of well. It is obvious English is a foreign language; therefore its use might not hamper the growth of Hindi language.
