Lahore Resolution which is also called Qarardad-e-Lahore, famously known as the Resolution of Pakistan. It was a result of the clear statement adopted by the All India Muslim League at the occasion of its 27th annual session of three days, starting from 22 March and ending on 24 March 1940. It was organized at Minto Park which is now famously known as Iqbal Park. The main agenda for this resolution was to realize Muslim’s autonomy in British India and to interpret it as a demand for a separate Muslim state in which they can fully enjoy their rights and practice their religion openly.

Fazul Haq moved this historical Lahore Resolution which consisted of five paragraphs. The Resolution was supported by most of the leaders from different areas. Besides many others, the Resolution was supported by Chaudhary Khaliquzzam from UP, Maulana Zafar Ali Khan from Punjab, Sardar Aurangzeb from the N. W. F. P, Sir Abdullah Haroon from Sindh, and Qazi Muhammad Esa from Baluchistan. Added to this, these people declared in their speeches that the occasion was historic one (5).
Conclusion
After tireless efforts and great hard work, the principle text of the Lahore Resolution was passed on 24 March, 1940. Later in 1941 it became part of the Muslim League’s constitution and by the year 1946, it formed the basis for the struggle of the Muslim League for a separate Muslim state (6). However, Lahore Resolution was a big achievement for the Muslims of India to fulfill their dreams and was considered to be the first step towards building a separate homeland.
