Why Following Orders Is Important Essay

No matter what rank a person is in the military, guidelines are implaced to keep order. Despite what you may assume, each one is very important and must be followed. Following orders are important due to the fact that they can also be used in the combat field, instill discipline and build good character. School and classroom rules are not just important there, but as well in the combat zone. Out in the battle field is a prime example of why following orders is important. When a soldier disobeys an order, the outcome can cause a domino effect to occur. If a soldier is told to pull security while their battle buddy sleeps and they do not fulfill their order, then the enemy can use that to their advantage by any means necessary. Throughout ones’ military career, it won’t always be what they know, but who they know. If they are honest upfront, then business can still flow properly and no one won’t have a bad taste in their mouth about the next person. Without that trust, reputations can be destroyed and relationships can fail all due to one mistake that can jeopardize all future missions. Once it is lost, it will be so hard to gain back especially from someone who trusted them back, which leads to integrity. Integrity should be instill no matter where, when, and who is around. Another trait of having good character, is responsibility. Just like in the classroom, a soldier have to take responsibility for everything they encounter. So if they make an error on ones’ paperwork, for example, even if it was a mistake, that soldier would just have to acknowledge the fact that they screw up and would have to face the music no matter what the outcome
