Personal Narrative: My Interview As A Community Activist

The person I interviewed is currently a teacher at Depaul. She is also a mother a wife and what you could call a community activist. In my interview experience I believe tailors three main themes. I assumed the interviewee would covet pride about education, family. and community. I thought this because she spoken on behalf of these prior in a very proud way. This person is a strong personality and sticks up for the things she loves. In regards to education she mentioned this quite a bit during our interview. The interesting thing is she struggled with school so much before she fell in love with it. She didn 't know this in her high school experience. She said “I was really a bad high school student. So I had to go to junior college because my grades were so bad. I actually dropped out of high school at about mid senior year. But I still graduated with enough credits, but I did have to go to junior college.” So even though she dropped out of high school she still had a sense that education was important and made sure to get it. He had gotten a violation where they had came and beaten him up. He had lost hearing and his face was very swollen and I saw that, and that was very traumatic. Another brother was a teacher and coach at Englewood High School. One of his students called him for help in fear of a gang related situation. He drove over to his house and got shot in a drive by.” I feel this is what gives a lot of color and life experience. Although she said these were awful situations you could tell it shaped who she is today. Which I believe could be for the better especially in her job field. So I think this shows Dr. Morgan’s personality and what she feels important in her life. As I mentioned she has a strong character and it is based primarily around education and family.
