From DBT, we have focused on mindfulness to bring Linda to the present. Linda spends a great deal of time ruminating about the past and worrying about the future. I have given Linda homework to keep a gratitude journal where she writes three to five things she is grateful for each day. She has found success in this activity by recognizing the little things in life that she does have such as a hot shower rather than focusing on all of the things she wishes she did have.
An important goal for Linda is to have a better relationship with her brother who has guardianship of her children. Many of their discussions end in an argument with Linda upset. We have utilized interpersonal effectiveness skills and role playing prior to Linda contacting her brother. Since working on these skills, Linda has reported having a few conversations with her brother, which have not resulted in yelling at each
