My Internship at the University of Saint Francis consisted of me assisting the athletic department staff with any responsibilities from their corresponding jobs. In the athletic department, I was under the supervision of Mitch Ellisen who is the Associate Athletic Director and the Head Men 's Soccer. My responsibilities included:

My job was to assist him with any of the responsibilities with the club. The Cougar Club is the main fundraiser for the USF Athletic Department. The Cougar club gives its members exiting and, exclusive benefits such as Family Passes for all USF home athletic contests, discounts on all apparels, admission to VIP/hospitality in all home games, and VIP parking etc... There is a lot more of what the Cougar Club offer to his members, but I just wanted to mention the most important ones that stood out to me. Whenever I worked for the Cougar Club my main task was to put in packages the items that each member got from donating to the Cougar Club. It was not hard at all, but it was time-consuming. There are four levels of members: $1000 and up (Cougars All- American), $500 (silver), $250 (Blue), and $100 (White). The bigger the donation was the more items you had to put in their packages; however, no one donated more than $500, which it made a lot simpler for me because it was difficult putting that many items in one small envelope. After I was done putting the items in the packages with their mail information the packages were sent off. Moreover, I had to put all the contact information of the members in excels sheets to keep track of who donated who …show more content…
Two weeks into the Internship my supervisor Mitch Ellison and I had a meeting where we discussed ways to promote the men’s soccer program more. I told him a few ideas that I had in mind, and he gave me permission to try them out. One of the ideas was to make highlight videos of games that we had won and put them on social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to possible attract more fans. He put me in charge to be the official editor of our Facebook so that I can put the videos on there. I also told him that we should have our players involved in promoting the team by making them to put our schedule poster around the school and to share the highlight videos, and team events on their social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instant Gram. Another idea that I had to make the program look more professional was to make a mission statement for the men’s soccer program that way the players that are thinking of coming here know what to expect from us by reading our mission

As a student eager to get out of the classroom and experience working in the mental health field, as well as interact with those suffering from mental illness, an internship was the logical next step to gain this type of knowledge. Although this comes with its natural feelings of anxiety and inadequacy, the knowledge and life skills I’ve gained through this experience has helped me grow as a person, has made me feel more prepared to help those struggling, and has given me the skills to overcome such negative feelings in the future. My internship was with Crawford County Human Services, specifically spending my time with the Blended Case Managers (BCM), and for a small amount of my internship, the Family Case Managers (FCM).
