The internet is something easily accessible now. You carry it with you on your phone and your tablet. Nowadays young children are getting all these mobile devices and laptops without knowing of the dangers and repercussions of what can happen. My younger sister, Tylia, is in seventh grade and comes home from school telling me horror stories about her friends sending pictures, messaging, and talking to these strangers on the phone that they only met online. Predators online are very manipulating. Sometimes adults end up falling for the same trap that children do. Explaining that sending personal pictures can never go away once you send them to me is the most important piece of advice to be given. It’s extremely dangerous because you never know who is on the other side of the screen. Also explaining that you should never meet up with any stranger over the web, don’t give them your phone number, or any personal details about your life. Never respond to a threatening message from someone else and always use the privacy settings on soil networking sites. Being smart online is something kids need to be more aware of and I think if the parent would supervise their child on a daily basis, they would feel safer.
