According to The Great Soviet Encyclopedia (1979), a tourism organisation is a commercial or non-commercial establishment, such as a company, bureau, or agency, which organizes and conducts tourist trips. In other words, it is governmental association, union, or other organized group that promotes both domestic and international tourism. The tourism organizations consist of international, national, and regional organizations that help develop and manage tourism. They may be into education and training, marketing, regulations, investment, environmental management, or socio-cultural programs.
International tourism organisations
An international tourism organisation refers to organisations that cross national borders. These organisations are not local, which means they don’t strive to develop and manage tourism at the national level. International tourism organisations have no boundary in terms of educating and managing tourism. In fact, these organisations set the standards for organisations at the national and regional level. The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) was formed in 1991 by a group of Travel and Tourism CEOs who felt that the sector’s contribution to economics and job creation was not being recognised. Its functions to use empirical evidence to promote awareness of Travel and Tourism contribution; to expand markets in harmony with the environment; and to reduce barriers to growth. WTTC is a global body with membership that includes airlines, tour operators, online distribution, cruise lines, hotels and gaming
