Moreover being in a second grade classroom, I feel that one instructional practice that really benefits the students in my classroom is repetition. They often times need to observe or practice something multiple times before they are fully in understanding. For example, every week the students are assigned a series of twelve new vocabulary words that they practice every day for twenty minutes a day through various activities, along with practicing them at school they are encouraged to practice them at home. At the end of the week the students have a quiz on those vocabulary words. However, through the words being full of repetition my teacher puts importance on making the curriculum have a advanced insight and helps the students gain confidence …show more content…
However, when he is in a small group with some of his classmates, my student tends to be distracted and get almost none of his work done. The point system that my teacher uses really works on my student because when he receives good behavior points it motivates him to keep on what he is doing and when he hears the sound of him losing points it acts a form of classical conditioning because he immediately reacts to the sound by changing his behavior that is causes him to loose points. My teacher has done a good job in really understand each individual student in her classroom and has individual changes that she feels is necessary for each student. The students have adapted to this in understanding that not every student needs the same classroom structure or teaching that they need to be successful. However, I feel for my student is meeting benchmarks in all of his assessments my teacher, occasionally not give as much individual attention as she does with the students who are advanced or students who need further support. This often times has me worried because although my student is successfully performed, oftentimes I notice some parts of his learning that may need assistance

These students have enough negativity; without adding more stress to an already stressful situation. I believe that the teacher sets the tone for the classroom atmosphere; fostering an atmosphere that embodies: motivation, compassion, and making mistakes as a method of learning. I also believe that the teacher can help these students view their failures in a new manner. Instead of dwelling on what the student struggles with, dwell on the strengths of the student. Reward small gains, for these small steps will have the student traveling down the right path…

On May 20, 2016, my adviser and I sat down to have a discussion about the university required courses and courses that was mandatory for the Liberal Arts college. English 101 was one of the classes I chose to take my first semester because I knew I had more knowledge on writing efficient papers because of my previous AP English courses in high school. In high school, I was always told that I was an adequate writer because I knew the basic of connecting ideas that provided a clear concrete understanding. However, the only time I received an unsatisfactory score was when the information I included in my paper was unorganized. Also, another reason I chose to take English my first semester instead of my second semester was because I knew I needed…

As I came to college, my family and I anticipated I would be following a simple mold of a conscientious student. One that is highly focused in some limited number of long term goals. Don 't get me wrong, this only meant that I had high expectations out of my college education. For some people, this path leads them to great success. But, I slowly realized my vision of success needed to have stories from different roads and bridges, than just one simple path.…

Title Enrolling the EOF program has lighten up a path in life that would have gone completely undiscovered had I walked alone. Along the path was my introduction to college writing, a class that has improved my writing skills profoundly. At first the tasks given to us on the syllabus seemed daunting, almost insurmountable within the five-week period of the program; it seemed even more inconceivable with the class being only twice a week. However, with the guidance and instruction given to me by the professor and peers I was able to strengthen my work as a student.…

English 219 was my first college level English course, and through attending and completing all of the assignments I have learned many skills that I believe will greatly help me in my future courses in college. Next semester I am enrolled in English 220, and after having taken this course I feel substantially better about continuing on with English courses at a college level. It has helped me to become more confident in my writing skills and provided me with an excellent basis for me to continue on with next semester, and throughout the rest of my schooling experience. Throughout this class I have learned many things, but perhaps the most important is the steps to writing an essay, and the planning options.…

Also, reflective essays describe and explore the development of the writer, and deliberate future goals. Throughout the semester, I have learned enormous concepts through reading and class discussions, which I will be able to use in my profession. The first way that behavior perspective learning is incorporating in the classroom is through operant conditioning. Students who learn to behave a certain way based on their environment is called operant conditioning. Through my observations I saw how student’s behaviors are more operant rather than respondents. For example, the students in my classroom have learned when they are in the whole group environment they must raise their hands quietly when they are ready to talk. If the students don’t raise their hands or are talking when their not suppose to my cooperating teacher uses negative reinforcement to by saying “I only call on students who raise their hands when they are ready to talk” or uses physical cues by raising her own hand when…

Introduction Although I will not be working with high school aged students in my teaching career, that I know of so far, I can’t say that I won’t be working with non-English speaking students in the near future. The students that I worked with at the Steps to College program on the UNG Gainesville campus were a prime example of working with students that didn’t necessarily have English as their first language. The summer program was focused on one class credit that the student chooses to take to count for their credit next school year and to have a more personal experience with what they are learning. The whole point of these summer classes is to learn the material and take an exam that counts as their grade for the class and the credit for the course.…

In addition, testing can provide the child with a challenge, which can boost performance and learning. Distributing and interleaving practice We all know the value in the saying, “Practice makes perfect”. When it comes to learning techniques, practice and repetition can be extremely useful. But instead of having the kids solve a single issue before moving to another, the practice should be used in distributive and interleaving manner. What this means is that a single problem is scattered across a short period of time, with different problems scattered across the session.…
