She is one of the key reasons I have continued on with my education as she made me commit to the completion of my degree when accepting my first position. Through discussions during our one on ones she pointed out to me that every job in every environment has a ceiling of some sort whether it be experience or education and at some point you will need to increase one or both of these items to move up. Through this specific conversation I came to the personal conclusion that I would eventually need my Bachelor’s degree to move to the next level of my …show more content…
I learned Customer Service, task management, and hardware management skills. Around this same time one of our long time team members had received a job opportunity and would be exiting the company within the coming weeks. I had just completed high school a month before and was in the process of figuring out my plans for college and work. The exit of our team member spawned many conversations regarding our team being short of staff and one of the other team members suggested to me that I look at applying for the position. This brought me to a tough decision: Do I take on a full time job while I’m in college or do I continue on the path of a 4-year college. I am not a good decision maker especially when it has such weight on the outcome of my future and the level of this decision weighed on me for several weeks. Our team member had left at this point and I was still unsure of my path, but I decided to have a conversation with my boss to make her aware that I was considering the possibility. I said to her “Lisa I just wanted to let you know I was considering applying for the open position.” She smiled mischievously at me and replied, “I was waiting for you to apply!” These two quick sentences facilitated a phenomenal conversation between the two of us regarding my future and my plans. From my personal experience, when I was in elementary school I remember my teacher would let us sit on yoga ball it always helped me concentrate and it helped me when I was really active because I could not move around, it will make me fall if I move around. I like the idea of standing desks because I prefer standing a lot but when I need to I could sit down on the tool, but I could still move my legs around and be somewhat active. So if one day you're feeling antsy you can just stand. Also I think if your tired it could help you stay awake. Mark Benden also states that sitting desk can cause kids to be obese, he also says that too much sitting is bad for your health.…

In the book Letters to My Daughters poet Maya Angelou wrote, “I am a spring leaf trembling in anticipation of full growth” (163). The anticipation Ms. Angelou speaks of is an accurate description of how I feel about becoming a thirty-six year old college freshman. In addition to anticipation; anxiety, self-doubt, and dogged determination are on the list of emotions I am experiencing. In January of 2015, I applied to South Plains College, bringing me one step closer to becoming a Physician’s Assistant.…

The semester before my freshman year I applied to an early college high school; I knew that I was going to have more work than if I had went to the traditional high school, but I knew I could do it. At first I was doing well, but as time went on the work became more challenging and frequent eventually my grades fell and took my pride with it. I wanted to transfer to the traditional high school in my neighborhood, but changed my mind after a talk with one of my professors. She helped me to recognize that if I quit not only would I be throwing away the work that I did do, but I’d also be preventing myself from seeing what work I could do. I took that seed of information and turned it into a tree of motivation.…

Semester of Learning Experiences People most always say, “ Learn from you mistakes and achievements.” I would definitely conclude that is exactly what I’ve done this first semester of college. There are many times that I wanted to simply curl into a ball because of all the newness and unfamiliarity. At times I found myself doing just that, but realizing that I needed to toughen up burst from my comfort zone. I can say sleeping through your classes never the best choice, not going just because you find it too easy, missing a class just to write a paper for another class, and differentiating between minimal and highly important status of choices.…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. In front of me was a bin of crayons, all the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. My decision to return to college was purely random. There was no pondering over the decision; no weighing in the pros and cons, no thinking it through or any real thought behind it.
