It’s the love and general comprehension people have for a country that makes someone a good citizen. For instance, Lee H. Hamilton stated, “As many have said, the joy of being an American is the joy of freedom and opportunity. We have been bequeathed freedom, justice and opportunity from the deeds and commitments even the spilled blood of Americans who came before us. We did not earn the inheritance” (Center Congress). In other words, most immigrants travel to the United States for opportunities that Americans are guaranteed, which most take for granted. In general, it is important that everyone coming to America and for people born in America to have an understanding and respect for the country. Even if a person is ignorant or lacks the knowledge needed to be a citizen it is crucial to get grip on the information. For example, immigrants provide diversity among the country which allows Americans to be culturally diverse. Being culturally diverse permits the country not to be wrapped up in their own culture but allows people to form experiences from around the world. Another example of allowing immigrants into the Unites States is that they increase the economy. Particularly, immigrants raise the economy by doing low paying jobs that Americans are not satisfied doing. The only major negative drawback of allowing immigrants into the United States is the uncertainty of their criminal mindset. In other words, a person can have bad intentions on arriving to America which can cause harm towards the country and the government has no way of being sure that the person is entirely safe. In general not returning to xenophobia allows the country to be in touch with different people around the world, which benefits american culture
